الشهيد
This beautiful name of Allah came in several places in the Holy Quraan. Some of them are surah Al-burooj 9, Al-Nisaa 79, and Al-Hajj 17. Their translation is given in the following:
Surah Al-Burooj verses 8 and 9;
8. And they resented them not except because they believed in Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy,
9. To whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. And Allah, over all things, is Witness.
Surah Al-Nisaa (An-Nisaa) 79;
79. Whatever good, (O man!) happens to you, is from Allah; but whatever evil happens to you, is from your (own) soul. and We have sent you (O Muhammad)as a messenger to ( to instruct) mankind. And enough is Allah for a witness.
Surah Al-Hajj 17;
17. Verily, those who believe (in Allah and in His Messenger Muhammad SAW), and those who are Jews, and the Sabians, and the Christians, and the Magians, and those who worship others besides Allah, truly, Allah will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection. Verily! Allah is Witness over all things.

The meaning of Ash-Shaheed is that Allah is aware of everything and nothing is hidden from HIM. Allah hears all sounds and voices loud and whisper/hidden and sees everything big or small, minute or microscopic! And Allah has the knowledge of every action of the servants which may become as a proof in favor of/or against the servants.
Surah Taha
67. And Moses perceived a fear in his mind.
Another translation is:
(20:67) So Moses’ heart was filled with fear.41
68. We (Allah) said: “Fear not! Surely, you will have the upper hand.
69. And throw what is in your right hand; it will swallow up what they have crafted. What they have crafted is but the trick of a magician, and the magician will not succeed wherever he is.”

These verses are about the story of Musa (Moses ) alaihi salaam and pharaoh. When Pharaoh had called the magicians to defeat Musa alaihi salaam, the magicians threw their sticks and ropes in the field and due to their magic on the eyes of the people, all sticks and ropes appeared as snakes. So Musa alaihi salaam, being a human being feared in his heart/mind. Allah All-Mighty saw his fear and did inspiration to him not to fear!
Thus Allah is Shaheed on what is inside our minds!!!
Surah Al-Fath verse 15:
15. Those who lagged behind (will say), when ye (are free to) march and take booty (in war): “Permit us to follow you.” They wish to change Allah’s decree: Say: “Not thus will ye follow us: Allah has already declared (this) beforehand”: then they will say, “But ye are jealous of us.” Nay, but little do they understand (such things).
Another translation of the same verse is:
15. Those who remained behind will say when you set out toward the war booty to take it, “Let us follow you.” They wish to change the words of Allah . Say, “Never will you follow us. Thus did Allah say before.” So they will say, “Rather, you envy us.” But [in fact]they were not understanding except a little.

We can see that Allah All-Mighty gave the future news about the hypocrites to Muhammad salla Allaho alaihi wa sallam.
Surah Fussilat (Hameem Al-Sajdah) 40:
(41:40) Those48 who pervert Our Signs49 are not hidden from Us.50 Is he who will be cast into the Fire better, or he who comes secure on the Day of Resurrection? Do as you wish; He sees all what you do.

Allah sees, hears, and knows everything and every action of all creatures and therefore Allah is Witness to everything hidden or in the open, external or internal inside our hearts and minds. Then Allah is the Owner of All Power, so it is very easy for Allah to reward or punish. Therefore, the only way of safety for us is to obey and worship Allah with humbleness.
